SGC Overview
Purpose: This is an opportunity for members of the larger community/public to inform the governing body about your views and concerns. The SGC will take community input into consideration further decisions.
Procedures:

Community members/public must complete the comment form prior to being allowed to speak.

Each speaker will be allowed a maximum of 2 minutes to provide their comment.

Community members/public will be allowed to comment twice during a council meeting.

The council will not engage in dialogue during the time comments are being spoken.

All speakers must address their comments to the chair
-
All speakers must show courtesy and respect to the council and other attendees present

Community members/public may not disrupt the regular meeting agenda and must speak during the allotted time which will be announced during the meeting.

The appropriate staff member will respond to all community member/public comments within 48 business hours.

SGC Purpose Statement
The purpose of the School Governance Council is to provide parents, school staff, and community members with a leadership role in the management of the school. The School Governance Council is a governing body that is representative of the community and the school but operates under the control and management of the Board of Education. The Council is responsible for making decisions regarding the strategic direction of the school including:
- Approve the school strategic plan and updates
- Approve the annual budget and annual resource allocations
- Manage the Request for Flexibility process
- Participate in hiring the principal (in the case of a vacancy)
- Provide annual feedback on principal performance.
